I stand to thanks the policy speech
delivered by the Tuan Yang Terutama yang di Pertua Negeri.
The issues I am
mentioning here are some of the few major ones to alert the
government to overcome problems faced by the Sabahan, and to look at
possible solutions to tackle and address the problems at their roots.
Corruption and Abuses
The corruption and abuses
of power is serious. This can strip and bleed the nation of its
wealth and will eventually bankrupt the state and country.
Commission (MACC) Adviser Tan Sri Robert Phang on October 3, 2012
said that the international anti-corruption conference in Kuala
Lumpur was a waste of time and an occasion for the Malaysian
government to pretend that it is serious about fighting graft.
The 14th Sabah
State Legislative Assembly sitting will commence on the 13th
of June 2013 with the swearing in ceremony for all the elected state
assemblymen. The sitting will be officially opened by the Tuan Yang
Terutama on the 17th of June to 20th of June
The question raised by
the ADUN Luyang Hiew King Cheu was answered in writing by the chief
minister Datuk Musa Aman in today State Assembly sitting. The
question asked that whether appointed state cabinet ministers are
required to declare their personal assests to act as a measure to
ensure that there are no "get rich fast" type of situation
happened during their term in office.
In view of the many job
seekers approaching the ADUN Luyang office in Foh Sang shop, the ADUN
Luyang Hiew King Cheu has decided to establish a job centre in his
office to register and to help those who are looking for jobs and
rates are on the rise, particularly in Luyang housing areas. In the
past four months alone, there are at least eighteen cases which were
reported. All of these reports are robbery and snatch and run
related. Areas involved are Hill Top, Taman Dixon, Taman Lavender and
Taman Jindu. There are many requests by Luyang residents demanding
for more police pondok to be located in Luyang. Andrew Lee Chee
Keong, Special Assistant to elected representative for Luyang, YB
Hiew king Cheu received many complaints on this matter after
residents failed in getting the state police chief to act on this
request. Currently, there is only one police pondok servicing the
area, and most of the time there is a shortage of police officers.
The statement made by the Director of the Sabah State Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Datuk Ismail Abdullah, refuting “allegations” made by DAP Luyang assemblyman Hiew King Cheu that RM10.9 billion of the federal development funds approved for Sabah under the 9th Malaysia Plan (2006-2010) was not spent is absolutely ridiculous from a person who is in-charge of the state economy planning unit.
Ismail should have checked and verify his information and facts thoroughly internally and with all other associate departments before committing his statement to the mass media. It looked very unprofessional and shameful for him to make statements in the absences of established facts and figures.
The N16 Luyang DUN office
is organizing a “Glamorous Grandma Contest”, which is to be held
on the 29th May, 2013, in the Putra Theatre Restaurant
starting from 6.30pm.
The contest so far had
attracted 10 contestants with age ranging from 50 to 70. These
contestants are giving training and coaching on the stage “Cat-walk”
and posing. They really enjoyed the every bit of the contest,
especially on the “make-up and hear-do” part. They said this is a
golden life-time experience and a chance to be able to do the
“cat-walk” on the stage in front of so many people. They never
thought they can ever do it, but now on the 29th of May,
they are going to do it for real. Their spirits are to be encouraged,
especially from their children and grand children, “Grandma Boleh”!
SPR or Election Commission electoral roll ending 31st of March 2013 (first quarter) was gazette on the 11th April 2013, and that was 11 days after the closing date of the quarter, and was used for the 13th General Election on 5th May, 2013.
After a quick check on
the title survey plan and road mapping of the Luyang Foh Sang shop
area has shown that the Land and Survey Department did not update the
details of the title survey plans and other information. The drawings
are still showing the same details as far back as twenty years ago.
The Luyang State
Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu strongly suggested that the Land and
Survey Department should immediately take action to update all the
vital information on the drawings in order not to mislead the people
who need the information for their work. How can we work with a set
of drawings carrying outdated information which leads to many
disputes and argument?
Prime Minister Datuk Seri
Najib stressed on the importance of transparency in government
administration in his first cabinet meeting. Why only now that the PM
is talking about it but in the absence of creditability and
accountability principles. It is not right that the PM still thinks
that the opposition has exploited and blown out of proportion the
idea regardless of whether it was real or mere perception. If the PM
wants to “copy or cut and paste” the idea, it is unfair to
criticize the opposition. The other thing is when he wants to copy,
it is better to copy everything than to have “half baked” ideas.
When talking about
transparency, Najib should first start with the petroleum royalty for
Sabah and Sarawak; Terengganu and Kelantan. PM Najib must propose the
amendment to the Petroleum Development Act 1974 to ensure
transparency, accountability and creditability on our precious
petroleum income, on its unknown expenses and so on. We want
everything to be transparent like on the actual production, sales and
income figures for the computation of the 5% oil royalty for Sabah
and Sarawak, other percentages for Terengganu and Kelantan, etc. PM
Najib must start to get really serious and come out with a do on
transparency instead of just telling his cabinet to be “Transparent”.
The public toilet in the
Luyang Foh Sang shop is good for nothing because it is closed for 24
hours. Many people had complained to the Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King
Cheu on the “convenience” which became highly “inconvenience”
when there is an urgent need to “release”!
