Sabah DAP Cultural, Youth & Sports Bureau Chief Teddy Yang commented that, decision on not recognizing Chinese Independent Education by Deputy Prime Minister cum Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was not a matter of policy, but a matter of shortsightedness!

“Should our country’s leaders are visional and sincere to create One Malaysia, then the struggle for Chinese Independent School Education to gain recognition will not take such a long time.” says Teddy.

Teddy reminds Education Ministry what they should not deny are (i) Education provided by Chinese Independent School is qualify, well disciplined and recognized internationally. (ii) Students from the said school are academically outstanding even in PMR and SPM. They are patriotic and ever ready to serve the country. (iii) It is for the government to fully utilize their strength for the development of our nation with direct participation in public sector, or they will serve other nation, which will be a great loss to our country.

Hence, Teddy Yang has 3 suggestions as a start government to recognize Chinese School Independent School Certificate in the future :
1. Provide job opportunities for Chinese Independent Certificate Holder in Public Sector.
2. Provide scholarship for their further study and incentive to serve the nation.
3. Set up dialog and communication mechanism between government schools and Chinese Independent school.

沙巴民主行动党文化,青年及体育局主任杨展之认为我国副首相兼教育部长丹斯里慕尤丁此前暂不承认及资助独中教育的决定并非纯粹教育政策问题,而是领导们的“眼光问题”!

所谓宰相肚里能撑船!若国家领导人真正下了决心打造‘一个马来西亚’,则必须具备远大的目光和胸襟,以及将不同里念和国家政策融合为一体的智慧。 唯有这样才能凝集所有种族的智慧和优点成为‘一个马来西亚’的动力。 虽然说不承认独中是预料中事,也显示当政者并不具备让我国团结和进步的勇气,诚意,眼光和胸襟。 相反,还抱着狭窄的思想和短浅的目光。 因此‘暂时’不像是个大有为的领导。

杨展之提醒教育部当局,其一,独中在没有政府的帮助下能有今天的规模和素质,这是事实。其二,独钟的教育水准高,并受到国际人同是事实。其三,独中生除了兼顾统考,在大马教育文凭的考试成绩比起其他受承认的许多学校有过而无不及,这也是事实。 在当今,国际间的激烈竞争,各国都竞相争取人才的形势下,独中培养出来的优秀人才若不能为政府和国家所用,他日必为它国所用,为邻国做出贡献。

杨展之说,我国政府向来需要很长时间来做出改变(霹雳州除外)。 因此,杨展之向政府建议三点做为日后承认独中的考量 :-
1。酌情开放公共领域的就业机会,让独中生为国效劳。
2。提供奖学金让独中生深造,并奖励学成后回国效力或创业。
3。设立与独中师生的对话,以及交流机制,以便异中求同,寻找合作空间。
若政府能将眼光放的更远,心胸更广些,则争取承认独中教育就不会太遥远。
