Najib running out of candidates //

Caretaker PM Najib said, “Pro-BN independent politician may contest on BN ticket” – says the front page headlines. Has BN run out of credible and winnable candidates? Even without announcing BN candidates, Najib is saying he is willing to accept “independent candidate who BN friendly” to be the BN candidates.

Sabah DAP Advisor Hiew King Cheu said, Mahathir was disappointed with the culture in UMNO when he stepped down some years ago, because of money politics. The politics under UMNO has decayed and gone down the drains. What a sad reality. A former UMNO veteran said the practice of “money politics” was so prevalent that when Najib was put as the Umno president in 2009. The latter joked in his closing speech “Inilah kita Umno dalam dilemma. Beri wang salah, tak beri pun kalah”. “We in Umno are in a dilemma. If we give out cash, we’re in the wrong, but if we don’t give it out, we lose”.

And everybody down there, the delegates, started clapping and laughing because they have been receiving, and those on the stage, the Umno Supreme Council members, also clapped because they have been giving. So it became a joking matter – a culture that has to be accepted”, recounted the UMNO veteran. What began as handing out a few hundred Ringgits to grassroots members snowballed into million.

Before the 13th General Elections, the Caretaker PM has already announced that he will accept independents, pro-BN politicians or members of other political parties who are willing to jump ship. Where power and authority is concerned, there is no such thing as “gentlemen” and BN will do anything to ensure their win and to rule the country again.

Hiew said, BN being the ruling party are loaded with cash, and are sure to field candidates in all 222 parliament and 505 state seats in the 13th General Elections. As if that is not enough, they are also willing to absorb winner from independents and other parties after polling day. What does this indicate – confidence, lack of confidence or they will do anything just to remain in power? Malaysians had seen power changed hands in opposition states before in the case of Sabah in 1994 and Perak in 2009.

In order to ensure that this will not happen again, the people must be firm and decisive. They must all come out to vote so as confirm their decisions to make changes necessary for the next five years in the country.

In the last few months, BN and Najib have demonstrated that they are not so confident to win over the Chinese and they needed foreign superstars to help to bring in the crowds. During Chinese New Year celebrations, BN was willing to spend a lot of money to bring in Psy, Najib took center-stage and asked the crowd if they were ready for Psy, the answer was “Yes”; but ready for BN, the crowd answered his questions, three times “No”.

It seems BN is already running out of ideas, time and confidence to ensure a win and not to expect a two-third majority. Even “flag-bearer” Mahathir has warned Najib to “buck up or be shipped out”. They have reached a saturation point where the RAHMAN prediction may become a reality in the 13th General Elections. Malaysians of all races and religions are feeling the brunt of the ineffective and inefficient governance of the ruling coalition government. This 13th General Election is going to be the “dirtiest” election in Malaysia, and the battle fronts are the so-called “fixed deposit” states of Johore, Sabah and Sarawak. Hiew urges the voters should come out to vote and concentrate their votes only on Pakatan Rakyat. Do not split their votes on the parties and independent candidates that cannot do any good. Let PR fight BN and change the future of Malaysia.
